Bishop Martin Drennan, Bishop of Galway, congratulates President-Elect Michael D. Higgins

I extend sincere congratulations to Mr. Michael D. Higgins on his election to the office of President of Ireland.
I offer every good wish to him and to his wife, Sabina, and to their family, in these days of great happiness for them and in what we pray will be a fruitful, satisfying term of office.
The people of Galway are very proud of his achievement and that one who has served them with care and compassion is to now to serve and represent the country as President at home and to the world.
Guímid ar Dhia a bheannacht a chur air agus é glaoite ónár measc anois chun seirbhís fíorspeisialta a thabhairt ar son na tíre:
Go dtuga Dia an tsláinte dó, agus go neartófar é, chun dualgaisí na h-oifige a chomhlíonadh le h-ionracas.
Go raibh tréimhse shona, thorthúil, spreagúil aige mar Uachtarán ar Éirinn.
Comhghairdeas le chuile dea-ghuí!
+Martin Drennan,
Bishop of Galway
