June 1st, St. Justin was born in The Holy Land and settled in Rome. He became a Christian and is remembered for his defence of Christian belief and practice. He was martyred around the year 65.
June 2nd, Ss Marcellinus and Peter were Roman clergy and were martyred under the emperor Diocletian in 303.
June 4th, Ss Charles Lwanga and companions were twenty two Ugandan youths martyred for their faith between 1885 and 1887.
June 5th, St. Boniface lived from 673 to 754. He was born in Crediton in Devonshire and educated in monastery schools in England. He went as a missionary to Germany, and founded monasteries in Bavaria, including Fulda in 735.

Please pray for Rev. Patrick O' Donohue who was with us as a deacon last summer. Patrick will be ordained priest on Sunday 6th June (Corpus Christi) in the church of Corpus Christi, Lisdoonvarna by Bishop Martin Drennan.
First Friday.
Friday next is the First Friday of June. Monsignor Malachy will be doing his calls on Friday, and Father David on Thursday Afternoon and Friday Morning.
There will be two Masses on Friday, the usual 10 AM Mass, and an Evening Mass at 7:30 with Benediction.

Corpus Christi and
International Eucharistic Congress 2012.
Next Sunday is The Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. It marks the beginning throughout Ireland of the preparation for the International Eucharistic Congress in 2012 which will be held in Dublin. There will be a second collection at all Masses to help with the costs of hosting the Congress.

Youth Mass.
Young people from the parishes around South Galway have requested a special Youth Mass which will take place in St. Colman’s church, Gort on Sunday May 30th at 7pm. As this unique celebration is being organized by a group of young people themselves, it promises to be a very special event with good music and other opportunities to become involved. All young people, especially those preparing for either junior or leaving certificate examinations are welcome to check it out. For the month of May, the Month of Our Lady, the Rosary will be recited every evening at the Grotto at Elm Park Road, Greenfields, Newcastle, at 7:00. All are welcome.
St. Josephs Young Priests Society.
The Annual Mass of the Society will be celebrated by Bishop Martin Drennan
in the Church of the Holy Family, Mervue, on Sunday 30th May 2010 at 3 pm.
In this “Year of the Priest” all are welcome to join in prayer at this Mass for our priests,
Seminarians, and an increase in vocations.
Pilgrimages.
1. A Pilgrimage to Turkey in the footsteps of St. Paul takes place from October 22nd to 29th. Some of the places visited will be Pamukale, Konya, Ephesus and Our Lady’s House. 2. The 26th Annual Pilgrimage to The City of the Sacred Heart (Paray- le- Monial) takes place from June 7th to 14th. The Spiritual Director is Fr. Charles Davey, S.J., (Galway), and the trip will include a visit to Ars and Verosvres and a Tridium in Honour of the Sacred Heart.
