The Pallottines were founded by Saint Vincent Pallotti, who was born in Rome in 1795. From his childhood he offered his life to the service of the poor, and founded the Union of Catholic Apostolate. At that time the laity was not actively involved in the ministry of the Church and Saint Vincent wanted to inspire people of all walks of life to work for God's kingdom. Saint Vincent wanted people to treat those in need "with care and with a loving concern". He died in 1850 leaving a legacy that continues to inspire people worldwide today.
